THE FINAL JOURNEY HOME To say goodbye is never easy to do for anyone at anytime. Doves have been a symbol of peace, tranquility and faith for as long as mankind can remember and are well suited for providing comfort to people who have just lost a loved one.

Beautiful white doves can be put on display in nicely decorated cages during ceremonies. Dove releases at the gravesite or chapel/church ceremony also provide the mourners with a sense of peace and are able to say goodbye. These beautiful white doves represent the soul of the departed and gives people a sense of closure as they watch their loved one fly off toward new horizons. A flock of white doves can be released in honour of all the loved ones who have previously departed. Seconds later, a lone dove is liberated, that gracefully flies skyward joining the flock, symbolizing the departed spirit making its final journey home. It is an eloquent way of saying goodbye. All this can be done with the accompaniment of someone reading a poem or a beautiful song being played to make his farewell meaningful.

Each day I lived and loved,
you were there.

Now as I leave my family and friends I know they will miss me and I them.

But I also know as do they

And guide me on the wings of a dove
